Chicago Symphony

                                  On the stage

                          Mstislav Rostropovich.
                                       Cello.

                            Strong sensual hands

                                   master neck.

                                Unconditionally

                                     honored

                                  in the hall and

                            on the orchestra stage.

                                  No exceptions.

                        Conscious of this pretty well.

                           Listeners and orchestra

                          feels like his artistic peers.

                      Hugo Wolf. Runs the orchestra.

                          Tremblingly doing his best

                               in the Maestro's job

                           Body elastic and precise,

                                         hands

                                  choreographic.

                                   Nothing extra,

                               nothing superfluous.

                                  Playing Dvorak.

                               Opposing Maestro,

                                   the first violin.

                                     marches in.

                                The power dialog

                                of cello and violin

                                      pours out

                              into a high-level duet.

                          For 'duelers', orchestra and

all those present at the concert,

                          completed by long applause.

                               After the performance

                             the conductor goes away

                                  into the far corner

                                       transferring

                                    applause-squall

                                     onto Maestro.

                                     Music extracts

                           the essence from the object,

                                     and mines it out

                                              like

                                         the aroma

                                    from boiling tea.
